Embrassures
Interdental embrasures are classified into three main types based on the degree of interdental papilla recession:
- Type 1 (Normal): Interdental papilla completely fills the embrasure space. Dental floss is the ideal cleaning aid.
- Type 2 (Moderate Recession): Partial loss of the interdental papilla. Thin spiral interdental brushes, interdental rubber picks, or wooden wedges are recommended.
- Type 3 (Severe/Complete Loss): Complete loss of interdental papilla with a large open space. Larger interdental brushes, unitufted/single-tuft brushes, or handle-mounted brushes are required.
