About Me

Hello Everyone!

I am 2025 BDS graduate and attempted for FCPS part 1 in October 2026 as my first try and Allhumdullilah I passed.

While I was preparing for my exam, I realized there isn't much information or guidance available for us BDS people on how to prepare for FCPS, so I decided to make my notes available which can aid your assistance.


Overview of the exam

The pattern is straightforward. There are 2 papers;

  1. Paper A (2 hours) - Which is basic sciences covering MBBS topics
    You can expect roughly:

Head & Neck Anatomy = 25-30%

Physiology = 25-30%

General Pathology = 10-20%

Biochem + Pharma + Micro = 10%

Embryo = 5%

Ethics + some BDS topics = 5-10%

  1. Paper B (2hours) - Which is Dental sciences covering BDS
    You can expect roughly:

Oral Med & Pathology = 25-30%

Dental Materials = 25-30%

Community dentistry = 20-25%

Oral Anatomy + Histology = 10-15%

Final Year subjects = 10%

Ethics + Paeds = 10%

I will add a guide to each subject in their respective headings in more detail. I will highlight very important topics in Yellow.
